Shri. N.K. Seshan, Socialist Party leader, was born in April 1927.
Starting his career as a Lecturer in English, Shri. Seshan later became the Head of the Department and Dean of Faculty of Language and Literature in Calicut University. He started his political career through the Socialist Party in 1948, and had also served as its General Secretary. He was actively involved in library movement and in the co-operative sector also, and was the Secretary of Kerala Kalaparishad. With a good command in Tamil and Hindi, he had also a good grounding in Sanskrit, which stood him in good stead.
Shri. N.K. Seshan became elected to the 3rd KLA in 1967 from Wadakkancherry as an SSP candidate. He also served as the Minister for Finance from 1.. 11.. 1969 to 2..4..1970 in the Ministry headed by Shri.C.Achutha Menon. It was during his tenure as Minister that the Kerala State Financial Enterprises was established.
He had also a remarkable stint as the Chairman of Library Advisory Committee during 1967-68.
Shri. Seshan had his literary accomplishments as well. He published a biography on Rabindranatha Tagore ‘Voice of India’ and another book on Asan, Ulloor and Vallathol.
He has two daughters.
Shri. N.K. Seshan expired on 6. 1. 1986.
The Assembly paid its homage to him on 17..3.. 1986.
